During our recent trip to Naples, one of the places I was most excited to show our friend was the iconic Teatro di San Carlo. As someone who lived in this vibrant city for a while, I’ve had the pleasure of attending several shows at this historic opera house, and there’s something about the atmosphere there that never fails to leave me in awe.
Teatro di San Carlo, built in 1737, is the oldest continuously active opera house in Europe. It’s an architectural gem that has witnessed centuries of performances, from world-renowned operas to classical music concerts. The grand interior, with its intricate details and stunning chandeliers, is a perfect reflection of the rich cultural history of Naples. It’s not just a theater; it’s a living monument to the city’s artistic heritage.
If you ever find yourself in Naples, attending a performance at Teatro di San Carlo is a must. Whether you’re a lover of opera or just someone who appreciates cultural landmarks, the experience of seeing a show here is unforgettable. But even if you’re not in the mood for a performance, a guided tour through the opera house is a wonderful way to learn about its history, architecture, and role in the cultural life of Naples.
For me, it’s a reminder of the richness of this city, its history, and the timeless beauty of Teatro di San Carlo. I may not live here anymore, but every time I walk through its doors, I feel a sense of belonging that’s hard to put into words
