As I wrap up eight weeks traveling through Europe, I’ve been reflecting on everything this trip has taught me — about travel, about my clients, and about myself. What started as a work trip turned into so much more.
I set out to spend two months traveling through Spain, Italy, and France — part personal adventure, part professional research — to deepen how I plan travel for my clients. As a travel advisor, I believe the best recommendations come from real experiences, and this trip was all about living those firsthand.
Traveling Slowly, Experiencing Deeply
From late-night tapas in Seville to early morning espresso in Naples, to long walks along the Seine in Paris, this trip reminded me how powerful slow travel can be. When you stay a little longer, wander without rushing, and let go of the checklist, the whole experience changes.
I noticed that the most memorable parts of my trip weren’t the big attractions or bucket-list moments — they were the quiet ones. Talking with a shop owner in southern Italy about his family’s limoncello. Joining locals for aperitivo at golden hour. Doing crosswords on a park bench in Paris with nowhere else to be.
These are the kinds of moments I want my clients to have — not just to see Europe, but to feel it.
The Balance Between Comfort and Curiosity
Another big takeaway: comfort matters more than I used to think. The right hotel, the right neighborhood, the right pace — it all affects how you experience a destination.
I learned that a centrally located boutique hotel can make a huge difference when you’re exploring on foot. That sometimes it’s worth booking the nicer train seat for a long ride. And that planning a flexible schedule — with time for rest, spontaneity, and a long meal or two — often leads to a better trip than one packed with activities.
My job isn’t just to book trips — it’s to design experiences that flow naturally, that feel easy and balanced. And now, after eight weeks on the road, I have an even better sense of how to do that.
Each Country Taught Me Something Different
Spain reminded me to eat slowly and stay up late — to embrace joy and energy. Italy reminded me to live fully and savor everything — to make meals an event, not an errand.France reminded me to be intentional — to seek beauty in the details and take things one elegant step at a time.
Each country had its own rhythm, its own personality. Experiencing them back to back helped me see how important it is to match travelers to the right destination, not just what’s trending. The “best” trip looks different for everyone — and now, I feel even more confident helping each client find theirs.
Coming Home Inspired
This trip gave me a renewed appreciation for what I do. It reminded me that travel isn’t just about escaping daily life — it’s about enhancing it. It’s about learning how you like to move through the world, how you want to feel, and what kinds of places bring out the best in you.
I’m heading home with new favorite hotels, hidden-gem restaurants, trusted guides, and a deeper sense of how to make travel feel more human, connected, and joyful.
If Europe is calling your name for next year — whether it’s two weeks or two months — I’d love to help you plan something truly special. You deserve a trip that feels effortless, meaningful, and full of those unforgettable moments that only happen when you slow down enough to notice them.
